Josh Tovar, Principal
Joshua "Josh" Tovar is an Othello community resident who graduated from the Othello High School in 1995. He has been married for 17 years and has three children in the Othello School District. His past employment includes experiences as a juvenile correctional officer, mental health case manager, and child protection service investigator. Mr. Tovar has a strong work ethic in everything he does and is always trying to make a positive impact on his school. Mr. Tovar's most recent employment experience is at McFarland Middle School as a Vice Principal. He spent 13 years working at MMS, six years as a teacher and seven years as an administrator. Mr. Tovar received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Central Washington University, a Masters in Teaching from Heritage University, National Boards Certification in ELA Early Adolescence, and a Masters degree in Admininstration from Washington State University.
Mr. Tovar states that he has "a strong desire to help our students and community by providing them with opportunities to be successful in their academic and career fields." Mr. Tovar's goals for DOHS is align their work to the district's vision in Reading Comprehension and Math Concepts and Procedures, and to postively impact his student's lives. "I want them to truly believe that they can accomplish anything they set their mind to through hard work, discipline, and dedication" said Mr. Tovar. He looks forward to this year and anticipates great things for Desert Oasis High School.
