Farewell & Thank You, Coach Rudy!

After 27 successful years at the helm of Othello High School's fastpitch program, coach Rudy Ochoa has announced his retirement. Rudy coached his last regular season home game at OHS on April 28. An event in his honor was held at the end of a doubleheader with Grandview.

Dubbed "the Godfather of Softball" by Sammy Rocha, the event MC, Rudy was honored by alumni players, district officials including Dr. Pete Perez, and a large crowd that gathered at the field. His influence on the sport far outlasts his 27 years at OHS. Rudy began coaching youth leagues in 1986.

Rudy has led Othello to four state titles in 1999, 2002, 2008, and 2016. He's been named Washington Coach of the Year five times and was inducted into the WSCA Hall of Fame in 2011.
