Dear OSD families. Today, governor Jay Inslee announced additional changes to masking requirements in K-12 schools that align with recent CDC updates. Masks are now required in all Washington K-12 schools through March 11. 

Beginning Monday, March 14, masks will be optional in all schools.  Staff and students will have the choice to wear a mask at school, with the expectation that others’ choices will be respected. One should not make assumptions regarding someone’s beliefs or health status, nor should they comment on them.

With the safety measures we have implemented over the past two years including improved ventilation, the availability of vaccinations, and one of the most robust school COVID testing systems in the nation, we are confident that our schools will continue to be safe spaces for learning and growth. 

Othello School District is committed to:

• Ensuring that individual rights and decisions are respected. 
• Ensuring that every family will have the right to choose whether or not to wear masks. 
• Ensuring that every staff member will have the right to choose whether or not to wear masks. 
• Ensuring that our testing and monitoring systems are effective and well-used.
