Jessica Schenck Hired as Assistant Superintendent

The OSD board of directors has approved the hiring of Jessica Schenck as the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning for the district. Schenck is currently the principal of McFarland Middle School, and she will continue in that role until the end of the 2021-22 school year.

“The central office exists to support students, teachers, and building principals,” said Superintendent Pete Perez. “Jessica has the instructional leadership skills that will help us continue to improve that support and create positive learning experiences for students."

Schenck, who has 18 years of educational experience, has worked in the Othello School District since 2014 as a teacher, director of STEM education, and building principal. “I am proud of the work I have helped lead at McFarland Middle School the past three years,” said Schenck.  “As that work continues, I’m excited that I can still support that staff in my new role, along with the staff and students at each of the other buildings. I want to be a true partner with each building in their teaching and learning work.”

While Schenck will officially begin her new role as Assistant Superintendent on July 1, 2022, she will begin transition work this spring, including leading the selection process for the new principal of McFarland Middle School.
