COVID Protocols for Students and Staff
These are the COVID 19 quarantine protocols for schools as established by the Department of Health.
Students, staff, and visitors who have no COVID symptoms, no close contact, and no COVID diagnosis are welcome on campus. Please note, over-the-counter self testing kits will not fulfill testing requirements in these protocols.
COVID symptoms but no close contact
CANNOT go to school in person if they receive a positive COVID test or have no test done. People in this category should stay home for at least 10 days after symptoms started and at least 24 hours after fever resolves without medications.
If you receive a negative COVID test or have an alternate diagnosis by a doctor, you should stay home until 24 hours after fever resolves without medication, and until symptoms improve or as directed by a doctor.
NO Symptoms, with close contact
If you are fully vaccinated, you can go to school in-person. You must test 3-5 days after a close contact.
If you are not vaccinated you have two options.
Option 1: Stay home for 14 days from the date of last exposure. Return to class on day 15.
Option 2: Test out. Stay home for 7 days from last exposure and get a negative COVID test on day 5 or later. Return to class on day 8.
COVID 19 symptoms with close contact
You CANNOT go to school in person, regardless of vaccination status, even with a negative test. You must stay home for at least 10 days from the date symptoms start and at least 24 hours after fever resolves without medication and your symptoms improve.
Positive COVID 19 test
You CANNOT go to school in-person, regardless of vaccination status. If you have no symptoms, you must stay home at least 10 days after the date of the positive COVID test.
If you do have symptoms, you must stay home for at least 10 days from the date symptoms started and at least 24 hours after fever resolves without medication and your symptoms improve.
Close contact = less than 6 feet distance for 15 minutes or more in a 25 hour period to a person with COVID-19.
Fully vaccinated = A person who has had both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or one dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine AND two weeks have passed since the last dose.
