Gina Bullis Rejoins OSD as Operations Consultant
Othello School District has announced the hiring of Gina Bullis as an Operations Consultant. Bullis formerly served the district from 2001-2010 and 2011-2017 as the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations. She is currently CEO of Othello-based Go Beyond Consulting. The company provides K-12 operations, financial, and leadership consulting services.
“We are excited to have Gina rejoin our team in this role,” said Pete Perez, Interim Superintendent. “She has extensive knowledge of our system and community and she’s a proven leadership expert who will help through this transition.”
Bullis will begin in the consulting role May 1. For the remainder of the 2020-21 school year her areas of focus will be:
- Long-term facility planning: Beginning the process for facilitating the development of a long-term facility plan. This work will cross over into the 2021-22 school year.
- Organizational Structure and Systems: She’ll work with district directors and departments to determine needs and will facilitate a system reset or redesign with student learning at the center.
- Building Capacity and Leader Development: Developing and building capacity in others through coaching, mentoring, training and supporting a collaborative and distributive leadership team.
Much of this work will carry over into the 2021-22 school year but the scope of Bullis’ work will expand to include working to implement the Interim Superintendent’s entry plan and focusing on efforts to achieve the district’s goals in strategic focus areas.
In addition to her background in education, Bullis has volunteered extensively at the state and local level. She served the Washington Association of School Business Officials for four years as a board member. She also served as a Columbia Basin Health Association board member for 8 years. Bullis is a WASBO Certified School Business Administrator (CSBA).
“It is a privilege to be rejoining the OSD team as an Operations Consultant and as part of the district’s transition team,” said Bullis. “I look forward to putting my experience and expertise to use as our schools move forward to emerge from this pandemic stronger, more effective, and more efficient. The work we will engage in will improve outcomes for Othello’s students.”
Perez said that Bulls’ contract is essentially cost-neutral for the district. “We don’t have an Assistant Superintendent on the payroll during this interim period, and that allows us to add this resource to our district during the transition.” The contract between Bullis and the district runs through August 31, 2022.
