K-6 Blended Learning Transition Information

Othello School District is excited to announce that our Board of Directors has approved the transition of kindergarten through sixth grade students to a blended in-person/online instructional model.

Kindergarten through third grade students will return to their classrooms on January 12th. Fourth through sixth grade students will return on January 14th. Both groups will be split into morning and afternoon schedules.

If your child lives inside Othello city limits, they are likely assigned to the morning group. If your child lives outside of city limits, they are likely assigned to the afternoon group. If your school has not notified you of your child’s schedule assignment, please contact their school.

We are taking our commitment to provide safe learning environments very seriously. All students and staff will be required to wear masks and submit daily health screening forms. Our staff have been trained in CDC and health department cleaning guidelines, and we have established robust sanitation practices. Classrooms will be cleaned between morning and afternoon sessions. Social distancing protocols are also in place. All of this is to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff.

If you are not comfortable sending your child to school, we will continue to offer our online learning management system options. Students in the learning management system will be provided with online resources that are largely self-directed. They will have limited weekly online meetings with a teacher to monitor their progress. Please let your child’s school know right away if you wish to enroll in the fully online option.

We will continue to provide transparency about COVID activity in our schools. COVID transparency information is available at www.OthelloSchools.org/COVID. This page is updated at least daily.

Thank you for entrusting us with the education and safety of your child. We do not take this responsibility lightly. The transition to the blended learning model is a positive step forward for our students! With your help and continued COVID safety awareness, we hope to be able to transition to a fully traditional model as soon as possible.

Welcome back!
