Transportation

At Othello School District, getting students to and from school safely is one of our most important responsibilities. Our Transportation Department is committed to providing safe, reliable, and efficient service for every rider, every day. From well-maintained buses to highly trained drivers, safety for all of our students is always our number one priority.

School Bus Safety

Riding the school bus is one of the safest ways for students to travel to school. We work hard to maintain that safety by focusing on:

Driver Training

  • All drivers receive ongoing safety and student management training

  • Regular certification and safety updates are required

Bus Maintenance

  • Buses are inspected routinely

  • Preventative maintenance ensures vehicles are in top condition

Student Expectations
To keep everyone safe, students are expected to:

  • Follow driver instructions at all times

  • Remain seated while the bus is moving

  • Keep aisles clear

  • Use respectful language and behavior

We encourage families to review bus safety rules with their students regularly.

Bus Stop Safety Tips for Families

Parents and guardians play an important role in transportation safety. Helpful reminders:

  • Arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes early

  • Stand a safe distance from the roadway

  • Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching

  • Use handrails when boarding and exiting

  • Cross in front of the bus only when directed by the driver

Parent/Citizen Concerns

Safety for all of our students is our number one priority.
Should you have any transportation concerns, questions, or safety reports, please contact the Transportation Department directly. We value our families’ partnership in keeping students safe.
