Child Find
Helping Every Child Reach Their Potential
Child Find is a program that identifies children from birth through age 21 who may have a disability and need special education or related services. This includes children attending private schools within the Othello School District boundaries.
Early identification is key -- about 10-15% of children have a disability that can affect learning, and finding support early helps children, families, and schools create the right plan for success.
How the Child Find Process Works
- When an appointment is made, families will receive a notice with the date and time.
- Screenings may include vision, hearing, motor skills, speech, reading, and cognitive development checks.
- Results may show:
- No further testing is needed.
- A follow-up screening is recommended in six months.
- A full evaluation for special education services is needed.
