Special Education - Meeting the Needs of All Learners

At Othello School District, we are committed to supporting students with disabilities from birth through age 22. Our goal is to provide individualized services so every child has the tools, opportunities, and confidence to succeed in school and beyond.

When a student is suspected of having a disability, our team follows a clear process -- guided by state and federal timelines -- to evaluate their needs. If they qualify, we develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that outlines specific supports, services, and goals tailored to them.

Our Services Include:

  • IEP development and specialized instruction
  • Speech & language therapy
  • Occupational & physical therapy
  • School psychologist services
  • Support for services with visual impairments
  • 504 plans and accommodations
  • Parent involvement at every step

Programs We Offer

  • Early Intervention (Birth-3) - Free screenings and services for developmental delays in partnership with CBHA.
  • Preschool Special Education (3-5) - Developmental curriculum for children with identified delays.
  • Resource Room (6-22) - Targeted support in academics, behavior, and social skills, either in small groups or within general education classrooms.
  • Self-Contained Classrooms (6-22) - Smaller class sizes with individualized instruction, therapy support, and opportunities for integration with peers.
  • Life Skills Program (6-22) - Instruction in academics, self-help, daily living, and vocational skills for students with significant cognitive or medical needs.

Our Commitment

We believe in serving the whole child -- helping each student reach their full potential, gain independence, and thrive in multiple learning environments.
