The Othello School District Business & Finance Office plays a vital role in maintaining the financial health of our schools. We are committed to sound fiscal management, operational transparency, and aligning resources to support student achievement.
Our department ensures compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across all financial functions -- from budgeting and payroll to grants and audits -- so that educators and staff can focus on what matters most: our students.
Our Core Functions
The Business & Finance Office supports every corner of district operations through a wide range of essential services:
Budget Planning & Financial Forecasting
- Develops the district's annual budget
- Forecasts enrollment, revenue, and expenditures
- Aligns budget planning with district goals
Financial Management & Reporting
- Records and reconciles all district financial transactions
- Prepares monthly and annual financial reports
- Provides fiscal reporting to district leadership, the public, and state and federal agencies
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Processes payments to suppliers and vendors
- Manages employee reimbursements for travel and expenses
- Oversees accounts receivable and cash flow management
- Coordinates with the Adams County Treasurer's Office for investment transactions
Compliance Auditing
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and district financial regulations
- Acts as the district liaison to the Washington State Auditor's Office
- Manages risk through the School Insurance Association of Washington (SIAW) insurance pool
Grants & Program Funding
- Provides full grant accounting and reporting services
- Supports schools in tracking and utilizing funds efficiently
Payroll & Staff Support
- Performs technical duties in the daily operations of payroll
- Supports employee compensation and financial inquiries
District Enrollment Oversight
- Manages enrollment data critical to funding and planning
- Supports accuracy in enrollment reporting and projections
