Dr. Kenneth “Chris” Hurst Sr., Superintendent, previously served in San Diego County, CA where his career ranged from being a U.S. Marine Corps Drill Instructor, mathematics teacher, assistant principal, principal, and associate superintendent. Dr. Hurst has a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Mathematics and Computer Science as well as a Master of Arts degree with an emphasis in Educational Leadership and Administration, from California State University-San Marcos. He also holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Southern California.
Chris and his wife, Crystal, have been married for 34 years and have two children who still reside in California. Taffiney, the oldest, is married and has four sons and a daughter ranging in ages from 8-19. She teaches fourth grade in Oceanside, CA. Kenneth Jr., is also married and has a four-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. He resides in Vista, CA. where he is a System’s Analyst for a series of credit unions within San Diego, CA. Crystal works as a special education teacher and will be working as an itinerant teacher supporting students with visual impairments across the Moses Lake, Warden, and Othello School Districts.

Pete Perez, Assistant Superintendent, was born and raised in Othello and, with the exception of time away to attend college at Central Washington University, he has lived here his entire life. Once Pete returned, he would go on to teach at Lutacaga Elementary and Othello High School and eventually become principal at Wahitis Elementary when it opened in 2012. He also serves on the CBHA Board and is a member of the Othello Rodeo Association.
Pete and his wife Tari have two children, Mia and Matthew. Mia will be attending Othello High School and Matthew will be in fifth grade come this fall. Pete and Tari love to do things as a family and like to travel when they have the chance. Personally, Pete likes to hunt for waterfowl and deer in the fall.
Pete’s primary responsibilities include overseeing the teaching and the learning programs; curriculum adoption; professional development; and overseeing various district programs.

Gina Bullis, Assistant Superintendent, began working in the Othello School District Administration Office in August, 2001. Her position as the Assistant Superintendent provides leadership and administration in Finance, Operations, and Capital Project Facility expansion/renovation and additions. Gina has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Whitworth University. Gina serves as a board member for the Washington Association of Business Officials (WASBO), the state association that supports business, finance and operational positions and processes within Washington K-12 school
Before joining the Othello School District, Gina’s career included 15 years in leadership, finance and operations within multiple industries, which include construction, agriculture and medical.
Gina and her family moved to Othello in 1994. “The Othello School District is a great place to work, and the community of Othello is a great place to live and raise a family. It is a pleasure to invest in the future of our students and our community.”
Matt Stevens, Executive Director of Human Resources, began at the District Office in July 2012. He works primarily with the Human Resources Department, Career and Technical Education, and the Secondary AVID program. Matt has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management-Finance emphasis, from Brigham Young University, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. He also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Central Washington University.
Matt has been in the Othello School District since the beginning of the 1997-1998 school year. He worked at Othello High School for 15 years in roles as a teacher, athletic coach, extra-curricular club advisor, ASB Coordinator, assistant principal, and principal.
